Ken asks…
Know a decent version of AULD LANG SYNE?
I just need an actual decent version of auld lang syne where the lyrics are audible and acceptable. No fuzzy winpering voices or just the chorus. I need to present it to my English class. Seems like the only poeple who enjoy singing this song are either horrible singers or make it into a techno remix. Or its all intrusmental, like there's not enough low-def 10 minute close-ups of a beerbelly and fuzzy sounding guitar on youtube already!
Please find one for me by the celtic women or some old stout scot with bagpipes in the background. Or if you have an mp3 you could upload, that'd be great!

If you know that Celtic Woman did a cover that you like, I think you ought to PURCHASE that through iTunes or get the CD at the record shop.

Daniel asks…
I just saw where Dan Fogelberg passed away from cancer. Anyone like me who really liked him and his music?
Yes, I know that probably a lot of you won't even know who he is, but he is a big part of my growing-up musical memory (mainly in the 70's/early 80's). I loved his lyrics and the way he sang. Some of his big hits were "Leader of the Band", "Same Old Lang Syne", "Power of Gold", "Longer" and "Phoenix". Does anyone besides me remember him? This news has really hit me. He was only 56. Hey folks, life truly is short.
Rest in peace Dan.

Yes, I loved Dan Fogelberg! I seldom cry when celebrities pass away, but I truly shed some tears when I saw this news this morning. Such a talented, gentle yet powerful singer. The first song I ever heard of his was "Run for the Roses." We were driving down to Texas to see my newborn niece; when that song came on the radio, I was hooked. And when my dad died 2 years ago, I dedicated "Leader of the Band" to him--
"I thank you for the music
And your stories of the road.
I thank you for my freedom
when it came my time to go.
I thank you for your kindness, And the times when you got tough.
And papa I don't think I've said
I love you near enough."
I'm really going to miss this man and his music.
Donna asks…
Help! I'm searching for a particular song!!!?
It was once featured at the end of a movie, tho I don't remember which one (chick flick). It was based on the song "Auld Lang Syne" and has that as part of the title, in parens.
Part of the lyrics are as follows:
"She didn't recognize my face at first, but then her eyes flew open wide.....[something something]....she spilled her purse, and we laughed until we cried."
"The beer was empty & our tongues were tired, running out of things to say. She gave a kiss to me as I got out and I watched her drive away. Just for a moment I was back at school...and felt that old familiar [pain?]...and as I turned to make my way back home...the snow turned into rain."
Song ends with the "Auld Lang Syne" melody....
Does ANYONE recognize this song? If so, please tell me the title, or who performs it!!
Thank you!!

Same Old Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg
Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried
We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged
We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car
CHORUS:
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
We tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would've liked to said she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I
Saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record store
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell
CHORUS
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Living in our eloquence
Another auld lang syne
The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain
