I know part of the lyrics but whats the song?

i heard this song on my way to a hotel when i was on vacation.
i know what it was about and some of the lyrics but i really want to know the song.
it was about a father singing a song about a girl going out on a date and when he came to pick up the daughter he was cleaning his gun, and that's what its says.
"when you get back ill still be cleaning my gun"
or something along those lines.
it was a country song.
