Lizzie asks…
why is it that when you watch bands perform acoustically, the chords they play seem so unique?
They are not bar chords, or basic chords, they seem to stretch out all over different frets. I've tried observing videos and I can never seem to recreate these chords. Also when you look up a guitar tab, the tab isn't even remotely close to how it's played by the artist live. I want to be able to broaden my range and my abilities, how do you go about learning more interesting chords?
ex: watching tegan and sara's guitar playing.

How much do you know about how a chord is built?
Basic chords are built out of the 1st, 3rd and 5th note of a scale (powerchords are only the 1st and the 5th), and you can just as easily add the 7th. The next step would be to add tensions: that can be pretty much any note beyond the 8th note of a scale, which means it's usually played on octave higher.
You can also play suspended chords, which means that you replace the 3rd note of the scale with the 2nd or 4th. Or you can play some other note than the root in the bass.
And good chord progression can make a simple chord sound special.
There are too many chords to learn all or even most of them. There is almost always more than 1 way to play the same chord.
The only way to be able to use these freely is to catch up with your music theory.
George asks…
What are the chords for Come Over Love by Estelle?
Anuhea does an acoustic cover of it on guitar. I already searched around online and at ultimate guitar tabs. I play the uke, I don't really have an ear to hear chords and if I watch someone play the chords on a guitar idk what they are. I was hoping someone could listen to the song and let me know or watch a video of anuhea or someone playing the song and let me know =) thank you!

Thomas asks…
By watching this video, can you tell me what the guitar chords are?
SONG #1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t08Q7XCua-o&feature=related
SONG #2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqMHnhncYyU&feature=related
(Wanting to know chords in Song #2 from from 1:51 - 3:15, and the bridge chords at 3:41 - 3:53.)
And if you could separate your answer into Intro/Verse/Chorus/etc that would give you extra points. :):)
Thanks :D
