Questions About 2010 Rose Bowl Teams

Mark asks…

At the end of the season who do you think will be the top 25 college football teams of 2009-2010?

Please state what team you are a fan of. (I'm a USC fan)

I already know I asked this question previously, I accidentally started the voting, but I wanted to hear more answers.

Here's my top 25

1.Florida
2.USC
3.Texas
4.Alabama
5.Ole Miss
6.Oklahoma
7.Ohio st.
8.Oregon
9.Oklahoma st.
10.Georgia Tech
11.Virginia Tech
12.Cal
13.Penn state
14.TCU
15.Boise St.
16.Michigan St.
17.Pittsburgh
18.Iowa
19.Norte Dame
20.Kansas
21.Utah
22.North Carolina
23.Florida st.
24.Georgia
25.Nebraska

I also considered Oregon st., West Virginia, Florida st., BYU, UCONN, Illinois, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, NC state, Arkansas

If you don't have time you can just put the top 10 or 5

Another question is, What do you think will be the best game this year?

For me I think it will be the Texas-Oklahoma game I think Oklahoma will win though

Bowl Predictions

-Florida will lose a game but win the national championship against Texas

-USC will win the Pac-10 but, lose either to Stanford or to Cal and be ripped off another National Championship and blow out 1-loss Ohio st. in the rose bowl

-Texas will lose to oklahoma but still win the Big 12 and go to the N.C. and be blown out by Florida.

-Oklahoma will beat Texas, but lose two more big 12 games but they will beat 2-loss Cal in the fiesta bowl

-2-loss Alabama will lose in the SEC title to Florida but will beat a 2-loss Penn st. team in the sugar bowl

-3-loss Georgia Tech will have an unimpressive win over 3-loss pitt in the Fiesta bowl

-2-loss Ole miss will go to the capital one bowl and destroy Michigan State

-2-loss Oregon will beat 3-loss Kansas in the Holiday

-2-loss Oklahoma st. will beat Georgia in the cotton

See my answer from yesterday, it hasn't changed. First, Texas backs up lasts years win in Dallas. I just hope someones paying attention this year.

Second, as much as I'd love to see nOU with a couple other Big 12 loses this year, it won't happen. If you think anyone other then Texas in the Big 12 can beat them this year you're nuts.
1. Texas
2. Florida
3-25. Doesn't matter

45-35

2010 - 11 season preview?

Probable NC Contenders:

Alabama (need i say more after tonight, almost everyone back (except for Rolando McClain, hes probably NFL bound))

Ohio State (Return of most of this years players, most importantly Terelle Pryor. Now if only Jim Tressel can let go of being so conservative like he did in the Rose Bowl)

Miami (most of the team were barely sophomores this season, plus they have a huge game against
Ohio State in like week 2 that can set them up for a run if they get the W)

Oregon (Returning both Jeremiah Masoli and LaMichael James and most of their Pac-10 winning team sets them up for a big 2010 - 11 season)

There are more i should mention, but i will leave that honor to you ladies and gents

So, Who will get to Glendale, Arizona?

(p.s. by the way, two things: 1. Tonights game was the final national championship to be shown on free over the air television, next year it and all of the other bowl games will be on ESPN (which can be a blessing because i DESPISE FOX's BCS coverage, it sucks monkey balls. 2. They should seriously look into keeping that intro theme, you know, the one with the different team letter logos put together to make CHAMPIONSHIP and ONE and stuff like that, it was totally awesome with the prose and everything)
forgot to add Boise State into the mix
THE POINT IS THAT YOU GIVE INPUT ON WHO YOU THINK WILL BE IN THE NC NEXT YEAR PEOPLE!!!

admin answers:

Miami is coming back next year for sure they have a bunch of players who are from Miami Northwestern High School from the class of 08 team and they were regarded as the best high school team in the nation and now they will be juniors in 2010 so now they will have experience finally, can't wait for next season so the U can get revenge on the Ohio state Fuckeyes, after they robbed the U back in the 02 championchip, trust me the canes defense will knock that little bitch Terrelle Cryor around like a rag doll and one more thing Bama fans, the canes want revenge from 92 so if its Tide vs Canes, don't expect the Tide to repeat, Bama fans enjoy this victory now because next year The U will rock everybody like a Hurricane

though I wouldn't count out Boise State or Virginia Tech I think they have both finally proven they are ready to compete for the national title

The Great Duck Meltdown 2010?

WTF happened to my Oregon Ducks? First, we soil the carpet at the Rose Bowl. Then we have the entire backfield and kicking team get busted. Then we fire Ernie Kent. Then Mike Bellotti takes a hike to ESPN (with Alioti not far behind I am sure).

It took us nearly 30 years to go from the biggest D1 dirtbags in the history of college sports to being contenders in both FB and hoops...and now...

Masoli. Pre-season Heisman possibility...Gone for the year...breaking and entering; theft.
James: Great prospect...Gone for the year...Domestic violence...pled down from felony.

9 players Drunk and Disorderly. 4 players, simple assault. 1 player aggravated assault.

WTF is going on in YouGene anyway.

This was probably our best chance to go for an NC shot in FB ever...and we pissed it away.

Ernie decides to win what 6 conference games in two seasons?

Chip Kelly pulls bonehead maneuvers that are reminiscent of the old Rich Brooks/Don Read days.

Man, it has always been hard to be a Duck, but this is just beyond bad.

Comments?

You pretty much said it. I have no idea what the hell Masoli was thinking.

John asks…

Oregon Ducks vs Cal Golden Bears, my blog recap?

Last night, the University of Oregon Ducks (10-0)(7-0 PAC) held off the California Golden Bears (5-5)(3-4 PAC) 15-13. The game was a big chance of pace for the speedy Ducks, and for the first time this season, special teams was the decisive factor to a victory for Oregon. Cliff Harris scored the Ducks first points of the game on a 64-yard punt return (his fourth of the season) to make the score 7-6. Dion Jordan ran in a two-point conversion attempt, making it 8-7 in favor of the Ducks. Oregon recovered a fumble in Bears territory, which led to a 29-yard touchdown by “The Maehlman” Jeff Maehl. Cal got the fumble right back in the third quarter recovering the ball in the endzone, however, they went on to miss the two-point conversion, making it 15-13, and the final score of the game.

California had several chances to take the lead after giving it up following the Harris touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Bears kicker Giorgio Tavecchio would have given them a 16-15 lead, until a penalty before the kick cost him five yards, iced him, and sealed their fate when he missed a kick moments later.

Oregon kicker Jeff Beard, 8-8 on field goal attempts up until this game, missed two key field goals that could have given the defense less pressure than what the had to work with.

Tonight’s game was a win-win for both teams. While Oregon got the big win from the scoreboard (the one that matters most) California showed the nation that the high-flying Ducks are indeed human. Here’s my rundown on the “winning” areas for both teams.

California: Held the nation’s “best” offense to 15 points and a season low 317 yards.
Oregon: The nation’s best 4th Quarter “D” showed up again
California: Held a Heisman candidate in LaMike to his lowest rushing yards of the season. (91)
Oregon: Got very lucky with the Cal penalty that nixed the go-ahead FG.
Cal: Had a chance when a then 8/8 FG kicker Rob Beard missed TWO kicks.
In the end the University of Oregon lived up to their “Win the Day” motto

With some digging around in the books, here are the results of all Cal/UO meetings for the past century.

2000 – At Autzen
UO 25-Cal 17 (1-0 Ducks) (1-0 at Autzen)
2001 – At Berkeley
Cal 7-UO 48 (2-0 Ducks) (1-0 at Berkeley)
2002 (No game)
2003 – At Autzen
UO 21-Cal 17 (3-0 Ducks) (2-0 at Autzen)
2004 – At Berkeley
Cal 28-UO 27 (3-1 Ducks) (1-1 at Berkeley)
2005 – At Autzen
UO 27-Cal 20 OT (4-1 Ducks) (3-0 at Autzen)
2006 – At Berkeley
Cal 45-UO 24 (4-2 Ducks) (1-2 at Berkeley)
2007 – At Autzen
UO 24-Cal 31 (4-3 Ducks) (3-1 at Autzen)
2008 – At Berkeley
Cal 26-UO 16 (4-4) (Ducks 1-3 at Berkeley)
2009 – At Autzen
UO 42-Cal 3 (5-4 Ducks) (4-1 at Autzen)
2010, yesterday’s game – At Berkeley
Cal 13- UO 15 (6-4 Ducks) (2-3 at Berkeley)

There you have it guys and girls, when it comes to the last decade the Ducks are winning the series 6 games to 4, however they are 2-3 at Berkeley, while being 4-1 at home.

When the clock hits 0, and everyone looks up at that bright scoreboard – a win is always going to be a win. Despite the ugly moments of last night’s game that every Duck and Bear wants to forget, Oregon is now 10-0, and they are just TWO games away of that National Title game. In two weeks, they play Arizona at Autzen stadium, followed by the Civil War at Reser Stadium in Corvallis against the Oregon State Beavers.

I view these last few games of the season as the playoffs of NCAA ball. Tonight the Ducks won a hard fought game from both sides, and it’s not going to get easier. Both Arizona and Oregon State have a chance to play the role of “party crasher” and can take Oregon out of the title game in just 60 minutes. Oregon State perhaps wants the redemption game a lot more, as the past two last seasons, Oregon has beaten them to advance to the Rose Bowl, and to take away Rose Bowl dreams. Here are some things to ponder for the next two weeks until the game at Autzen.

Can Oregon win-out?
Who will crash the Ducks’ party?
Who is the biggest threat to crash that party?
Are we going to see the high-octane Ducks come flying out of the gates?

admin answers:

The Ducks should give the Cal kicker a Championship ring if they wind up winning it all. His 2 missed chip shots saved their season.
