Questions About Anderson Cooper Egypt

Paul asks…

How will Anderson Cooper Escape Egypt unharmed?

The Fox News guy in Egypt was severely beaten, now Cooper is in hiding- I guess they threatened to behead him. YIKES! That would suck! Do you think that ABC chick who seemed to be popular with those Muslim Brotherhoods rescued Cooper? Is that chick a Muslim, or just Soros puppet far leftist terrorist sympathizer from ABC? Who interviewed Egypt's President?

admin answers:

He'll escape like if he were a celebrity similar to Michael Jackson having bodyguards shielding him.

Robert asks…

Should Anderson Cooper stay in Egypt and never come back to the US?

admin answers:

Probably a bad idea, because once these stupid young men destroy the government of Egypt, a totalitarian Islamic regime will be installed and they'll start hanging Gays off of cranes.

Jenny asks…

Why doesn't Glenn Beck go to Egypt and do reporting like Anderson Cooper, Brian Williams and Katie Couric?

If he wants people to take him seriously, then he must start doing some serious Journalism.

Egypt is the hot spot right now, so that is the best place to start.

admin answers:

Great question, Town Crier.

Thomas asks…

Do you think that Anderson Cooper is really in Egypt?

He's broadcasting from a hotel room, he said in Cairo...but perhaps he's really in New Jersey or something....thoughts?

admin answers:

It wouldn't be the first time one of them has done this !

I'd rather be cynical than naive.

Questions About Old Lang Syne

James asks…

what are some similar song to Same Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg and Taxi by Harry Chapin? ?

My english teacher makes us do lyrical analysis and i need to find a song that has the same themes and tones as the two songs listed above.

admin answers:

( THERE YOU'LL GET ARTISTS AND SONGS THAT ARE SIMILAR )

Mary asks…

What is origin and background of the song old lang syne?

admin answers:

It's an old Scottish folk song.

Lisa asks…

about lyrics of "Same old lang syne"?

Dan Fogelberg song.

1. "she went to hug me and she spilled her purse and we laughed until we cried."
They just shed tears because they laughed too much? or they felt some sadness and then cried?

2. "reliving in our eloquence another old lang syne"
It seems like they talked so much and remembered younger days,
but what do you think about "another old lang syne"?
reliving it? or other rendering?

Thank you for reading. Any harsh comment I would appriciate.

admin answers:

1. Both

2. Reliving it now that they're more mature

Just my opinion.

Jenny asks…

Old Lang Syne Trumpet Notes?

HELP!! What are the Notes for Old Land Syne on Trumpet 1

admin answers:

I played it once, it was in the back of a children's book called "Bob the Dinosaur"
If I had my trumpet now it'd be fairly easy to figure out.
Do you know the song? It shouldn't be too hard to get. I'm sorry if this didn't help. Try googling it, I know there are some websites that offer free sheet music and the like. Good luck

Here:

http://www.chivalry.com/cantaria/music/auld-lang-syne.gif

don't think it's written for trumpet, but if you're playing solo it should be fine.

Questions About Bosom Buddies

Sharon asks…

bosom buddies?

what would you do if one of your guys/girl friends revealed that they liked you but you liked them only as a friend?
(this is for guys and girls to answer)

admin answers:

Well if you don't, just say straight out you don't like them, and you'd like to keep what you have with them as a friendship.
I've done it plenty of times and it worked out just fine.

Robert asks…

Where is the TV show Bosom Buddies supposed to take place?

I could have sworn it was Ohio but not sure.

admin answers:

Go to the shows site:
http://top3tvreviews.com/pcshowmoviesdownload.htm

Ken asks…

What was the name of the painting that hung in the living room of the show Bosom Buddies?

It was a surreal painting of a man with a pear covering his face. He was wearing a kind of bowler or derby hat & the background was of a blue sky with clouds.

The title of the piece or even the artist's name would be great. thanks in advance! ^^

admin answers:

Whatever it is called, its by Magritte.

Mary asks…

Where does the term 'bosom buddies' come from?

I know this means really good friends, but I was wondering why bosom?

admin answers:

It is a literal translation from Latin "sodalis pectoris" probably by students who found it funny, literally it means "friend/ companion/mate of the soul (or bosom)", because the Romans believed that the heart and the chest were the seat of the soul.

Questions About Ryan Seacrest Radio Show Time

Carol asks…

will perez hilton go to jail?

Miley Cyrus has been getting a lot of heat lately for her provocative outfits, but not as much heat as Perez Hilton got for posting an uncensored upskirt picture of her.
Perez, real name Mario Lavandeira Jr., now faces serious legal trouble and possible jail time for his careless post, which was later removed. And after all the controversy, we’re finally hearing what Miley thought about the whole thing.

Perez Hilton Faces Child Pornography Charges Over Miley Stunt

“That’s some idiot being an idiot,” she told Ryan Seacrest during his radio show.

“Isn’t it funny things like that, that are so negative, have to come out right before my record?” asked Miley. “It’s like, no one can just let a positive thing happen I guess people have nothing better to do than edit photos of me to make me look bad.”

Today, Perez was on the defensive in a video posted to his blog, saying “Miley was clearly wearing underwear. Do you think Miley is that stupid to be out in public without panties?”

He went on to say, “Do you think I’m stupid enough to post a photo of Miley if she’s not wearing any underwear down there?” he said. “Sure I like to be controversial, but I don’t want to go to jail.”

What Perez did is a serious crime and sadly the video he posted seemed like a joke to him.

admin answers:

Hopefully.. But I doubt it because E! Online said this:

"This one image of a 17-year-old, even if it were technically child porn, is not a very big child porn case," criminal defense attorney Christopher Leibig tells me. "Usually child pornography cases involve multiple images, including children being photographed—in a private setting and performing sexual acts—by perpetrators for profit."

I'm just glad that he felt the pressure and confirmed it to be fake so now it'll die down in a couple of days and the media won't hate on her for this.

Sandy asks…

What happened to DJ Shelly Wade on NY's Z100?

I listened a few weeks ago at 10AM-2PM, and Ryan Seacrest is now in her slot. Does she have another time on the radio? And is Ryan phoning the show in from LA, or is he here in NY?

admin answers:

David asks…

Is This A Good Email Of Complaint?

Im in the UK, and my radio station has changed and i don't like them. I have prepared an email which you can see below. I have just ran a spell check and made it look professional, but i was just wondering if their is anything i could change?

Hi. First of all, I would like to say that i love real radio, but I really dislike some of the new changes. Chances are you will just put this to one side and forget about it, but however, I need to get this off of my chest.
Firstly, the amount of ads being played through the shows is getting crazy! They are being played every 5 - 10 minutes, more than music, and they are the same boring ads that get older and older each time played.
Secondly, I am not into the Ryan Seacrest show, and a few family and friends have told me they have stopped listening to it from 11pm onwards. I think it’s a good idea about things like that, but he’s American, and he is on an English radio station. And I’m not 100% sure if I heard him swear on last night’s show.
And lastly, the same songs are being played each and every day. I turned it on in the morning, heard a song, in the afternoon and in the evening. And it’s the new songs. Real Radio is meant to be a mixture of new and old, but now, we are lucky just to get an old song.

I am getting very tempted to change radio stations but i really don't want to.
Thank You for reading.
I've changes some of it:

admin answers:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Despite being a regular listener to you radio station and my love for real radio in general, I am really disappointed with some of the new changes your radio station has made and would like to highlight few of the issues i noticed, albeit I am aware that you may just put this letter to one side and ignore my concerns; however, even if that is the case I need to get this off of my chest.

1. The numbers of ads being played through the shows are getting crazy and irritating. I understand that radio stations are not a ‘Not For Profit’ organizations and these advertisements are the main source of revenue for the business, however I reckon a good balance between the main purpose of a radio station ie providing entertainment to the listener and the monetary gains, is more prudent way forward.

Ads are played every 5 - 10 minutes, more than music, and they are the same boring ads that get older and older each time they are played.

2. I am not into the Ryan Seacrest show, and a few family & friends have told me they have also stopped listening to it from 11pm onwards. I think it’s a good idea about things like that, but he is an American and he is on an English radio station. I am not fully certain if I heard him swearing on last night’s show.

3. The same songs are being played each and every day. I turned it on in the morning, heard a song, in the afternoon and then in the evening too. Real Radio is meant to be a mixture of both new and old songs, but your radio mostly plays new songs, leave few odd old ones.

I am getting very tempted to change radio stations but I really don't want to.

Thank you for reading.

Questions About Dan Fogelberg Songs

Mark asks…

Any favorite songs by Dan Fogelberg?

admin answers:

Album by album:

-The Later Years-

Isle au Haut (from No Resemblance Whatsoever)
The Minstrel (River of Souls)
Song of the Sea (The Wild Places)
Whispers in the Wind (Full Circle)
The Colors of Eve (Love in Time)

-Early Years-

Wysteria (Home Free)
Souvenirs (Souvenirs)
The Last Nail (Captured Angel)
Dancing Shoes (Nether Lands)
Paris Nocturne (Twin Sons of Different Mothers)

-Middle Years-

Along the Road (Phoenix)
In the Passage (The Innocent Age)
Believe in Me (Windows and Walls)
Sutter's Mill (High Country Snows)
Seeing You Again (Exiles)

and, Dan didn't write this one, but it may be his most emotionally-charged singing:
In the Bleak Midwinter (from The First Christmas Morning)

This is from memory, so I may have left out something, and
my preferences today will probably change tomorrow. All
of Dan's music is good, and selecting individual songs is
like trying to answer "Which is your favorite child?"

Mary asks…

Favorite Dan Fogelberg song?

I know he dates way back, but if you remember him, what song is your favorite?

admin answers:

Same Old Lang Syne

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling christmas eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didn’t recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried.

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged.

We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn’t find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

She said she’d married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn’t like to lie.

I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn’t sure if I saw
Doubt or gratitude.

She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
Another ’auld lang syne’...

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away.

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain --

@Lorenz-You'v actually heard of Marianne and Michael?
Highwaymen was a Country music Quartet cosisting of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and Waylan Jennings
Serj was the singer for SOAD

I could name every Song if you like, I have 1500.

I'd say most of them are very mainstream. Nothing wrong with that, but I consider "eclectic" to be more along the lines of having the Gaither Vocal Band, Perry Como, the Violent Femmes, and Vernon Dalhart on the iPod.

Slow songs for a 13 Year olds party?

Ok so I was put in charge of my 13 yr old daughters party music and she gave me the list of fast songs she want but I need help with some slow songs. Its a boy/girl party so I don't want anything too mushy but you know the kids need something to slow down to because they are gonna wear out quick! Make sure the slow songs are new and not something from the 18th century as my daughter says... No country music. No screaming music either! Any songs will help but I will give the person with the most slow songs that my daughter likes the best answer! Good Luck!

Lyrical Solo Song for an 8-9 year old - Very emotional dancer

This is my daughter's 2nd year as a solo dancer and has taken 1st place in all the competitions she participated in. She is very dramatic, very emotional and her technique is beyond her years. We are heading into her second year and are searching for the perfect song! Last year she danced to "In my daughter's eyes" and it was perfect, this year we would like to see her do something "different" -
not about mom and dad but equally as emotional or "story-like". We prefer not to use "overused" or newer songs that are heard thousands of times by judges or songs that are too mature for her - for example, death, love, etc. We have picked a few to present to her lyrcial teacher/choreographer and she will come up with some to but I thought I would put this out there ans ee what others are thinking.

I have seen many post saying that lyrical shouldn't be done by girls under 12 and if you think they aren't capable, perhaps you aren't looking at the right girls doing the right choreography - although I agree it's not for everyone, there are younger kids that can knock your socks off!

admin answers:

She sounds like a mini-me!!!! I've been into lyrical dancing since I was six, and I've been dramatic & emotional since birth. And I definitely agree that you shouldn't be underestimated because of your age!

Nehoo:

My recs are:
Let the River Run - danced to this when I was 9. It's DEF. Dramatic
The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson
Dance with myself - Nouvelle Vague
Say It's Possible - Terra Naomi
Sea of Love - Cat Power
Feeling Good - Nina Simone (I PROMISE this is an awesome song to dance to)
Blackbird - Evan Rachel Wood

If you need more ideas, just shoot me an email. I've been dancing since I was three, and I totally appreciate the importance of the song.

Steven asks…

Newer pop/rock/techno/etc. songs that are OK for a 7-year old?

I asked this question earlier and nobody seemed to understand what I was asking so I'm going to clarify: I am having my graduation party next weekend. While most people there will be about 16-20 years old, my very young second cousins (2 and 7) will be there for part of it. I need some lists of a few songs each from bands that are okay for kids that age BUT they also have to be pleasing to the main group at the party. That means:
-No Kidz Bop or artists who are specifically for kids (this includes Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, and anyone else from Disney/Nickelodeon, as well as Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber) or edited versions of songs.
-Also, this is not specifically about my personal taste. If you think I'd like DotDotCurve or Jeffree Star, great, but I don't think my cousin would want her 7-year-old son to hear that. The main objective here is to find bands kids my age would like anyway that have appropriate songs (such as Stereo Skyline, Owl City, The All-American Rejects and Forever The Sickest Kids).
-If you do list someone who has a mix of appropriate and inappropriate songs, please list a few songs that would be okay for a kid to hear (like if you say Blood On The Dance Floor, list "P.L.U,.R." and "Lovestruck") so I don't go searching around on lyric sites for hours.
-Please don't list The Beatles or things like that. Again, I'd like stuff kids my age would listen to anyway.
Thanks! (I forgot to add that)

admin answers:

The Postal Service (like Owl City but good :P).

Also, nearly all techno is appropriate for all ages. The song by Newton used in the pepsi commercials is a good one lol, called Streamline

Sharon asks…

What should I tell my hairdresser to do to cut my hair to look like Jenny Mccarthy's most recent bob?

I love Jenny Mccarthy's newest bob, very sophisticated and sleek looking! I don't really want it to be shorter in the back than the front, but I really like how her style looks. What should I ask my hairdresser to do to cut it to be similar to Jenny's?

Take a picture of Jenny Maccarthy with the hair style you want to your stylist

Linda asks…

what products should i use to acheive a good loook with a bob haircut - jenny mccarthy type hair.?

admin answers:

Hello, I am a hair stylist. I suggest drying your hair with a round vent brush. Make sure you use heat protector if you use hot tools and use a light holding spray so it doesn't go limp. Hope this helps!

Carol asks…

Is it possible for the new angled bobs (like Jenny McCarthy) to work for curly hair (like debra Messing)?

admin answers:

Yes

Lizzie asks…

I need some good bob hairstyle photos.?

I like photos of Jenny McCarthy's bob haircut, but I'm looking for some similar cuts with a little more detail in the photo to take to a stylist.

Richard asks…

Guys Should I be worried if my boyfriend watches teen slave porn?

The other day I woke up at 2am and my boyfriend was on the computer. When I asked him what he was doing he said checking his mail. I not a prude or any thing I know guys watch porn. The reason I'm worried this really nasty like rape and torture of teens I've got two teen daughter in the house. I've never seen such nasty porn before It looked like killing these girls. tears and all torture devises Please I not looking for you be mean just your ideas

admin answers:

As i guy i think you shouldn't be too worried unless he gives you a better reason to be. The fact that he tried to hide it kinda shows he's embarrassed by it.
Also you have to remember that the torture in the video wasn't real because that would be illegal :)

Sandra asks…

DO you ever tease your love slave, just to watch them squirm?

It's fun, they have to stroke, but I hardly will touch them and when I do they cry they are so happy, but I say no thrusting, but they do and so I stop. Mean, huh?

admin answers:

So mean but a true pleasure P&P :-)

Joseph asks…

How do you think slavery would have been handled without the Civil War?

I think it would have happened a bit later, but more peacefully and it wouldn't have had the lasting bitter resentment and racism.

Two main arguments could have been used. I know someone must have come up with these, because there were plenty of brilliant politicians at the time, and I'm just a 15-year old nerd. Anyway, the arguments are economic and then cultural.

Economic: You have to spend a lot of time training a slave, breaking his will, hiring overseers to watch the slaves, hiring people to guard the slaves, catching the slaves when they run away, and so on. Also, slaves will deliberately break equipment and won't work as well as higher hands.

Cultural: You could play off the racism there. Go to some big town with a plantation owner, and point out all the unemployed white guys that could be doing jobs held by black slaves, for one. I don't agree with that statement, but it could be used for an argument.

What do you think?
I know the Civil War wasn't about slavery.

However, slavery played a big role and the Emancipation Proclomation and the 13th amendment came up during that time.

admin answers:

I have to say that this is speculation , so nobody is right or wrong...and perhaps it's a reflection of one's hopes and biases as well!

First of all,are those two arguments the reason slavery ended peacefully in other slave-holding societies? That would be interesting to find out.

The first argument is an interesting one...it's actually an inversion of an argument made by the most articulate supporter of slavery, George Fitzhugh (Spelling) who argued in favor of slavery by saying " look we take care of the slaves, make sure they are healthy"...while you snobby northerners hire your workes, don't care if they have home, a livable wage and just dispose of them when they get sick and hire the next guy, etc..

But Anyways, I think the main argument given for ending slavery would not have been either of those...First of all, if your economic arguments were true, then why didn't slavery end earlier? Why didn't the business owners slowly convert to a free labor system? Furthermore, I think that costs you mentioned held true for early industrialization as well, I mean you have to spend time training workers, slave or not a slave, and back then factories had to hire overseers and even pinkerton guards to keep workers and unions in check...and lots of productivity loss due to the reasons described by Fitzhugh...So I think even with all those costs it was still profitable, which is why continued for so long.

So , in the end, I think the main argument for ending slavery would have been the same argument that brought about the end of jim crow laws in the south, apartheid in south africa...and the totalitarian regimes throughout the world, and that is justice...morality...in short "doing what's right"...and crucially through popular movements from below that became morally outraged with the order of things

But that's not to say that economic arguments didn't have an impact and that they weren't there...so I am absolutely positive that some white elites in South Africa thought "oh let's give blacks their civil and political rights" because we are losing tons of money with the international embargo against us...okay but why did that embargo have such force? Because the peoples of the world forced the world's governments to recognize their moral indignation and thus act in a moral way. So morality was the basis of it all...

So, going back to the case of slavery, my hunch is that the abolitionists' moral argument would have been the determinative factor in ending slavery...and any economic arguments by elites would have flowed from those very costs imposed by a morally outraged public (boycotts, embargoes, civil disobedience etc.)...and also boycotts from other countries as well (abolitionism , after all, was international in scope)

At least that's my hope

Anyways, best of luck. Thanks for reading.

Questions About Cleaning This Gun

John asks…

What is considered quality gun cleaning solvents and oils?

All right, i have only been shooting since recently and knowledge of solvents and oils. As of yet i have used Rem oil and hoppes #9 on the two firearms i currently own, a savage mark II and an older mossberg bolt action, and so far that's all i have needed. But i know nothing about any other types of gun cleaners, oils, ect. Can anybody help educate me on this subject.

admin answers:

In the twenty-first century there is no longer any reason to stink up the house with Hoppe's #9 powder solvent. I use: Iosso Bore Cleaner, Flitz Metal Polish, Ballistol, and WalMart Pharmacy's Mineral Oil. All of the previously mentioned cleaners, except Mineral Oil, remove both powder residue AND copper jacket fouling. For additional lubrication I use either Sentry Solutions, 'Hi-Slip' Grease, or Shooter's Choice, 'High Tech' Lube.

Rem Oil is one of the last substances I'd ever put on a gun. It's way too light and too fluid. I would never trust it not to contaminate casemouths and primer pockets on either hunting or self-defense cartridges. Use conventional cleaning rods, too. Bore snakes are way too difficult to keep clean; and, once they crap up, they leave crud on everything they touch. You're much better off, throwing your dirty gun patches away.

Finally, always wear latex or Nitrile gloves whenever you clean a gun. Wash your hands with Go-Jo or Goop when you're finished, too. Be careful with modern gun lubricants and cleaning chemicals. Some of them are mildly toxic, and belong only on or inside the gun.

Daniel asks…

Can i use microfiber for gun cleaning?

Is it safe to use this material versus what is included in the typical gun cleaning kits? Microfiber boasts being good for multiple uses from washing your car to cleaning delicate objects. Would microfiber also be good for this use?

admin answers:

I use a microfiber towel to polish my guns up after I'm done cleaning them and it does a Great job. I can't say that I'd recommend it for the actual cleaning though.

Michael asks…

How can I tell the size of my gun cleaning brushes?

I have two universal gun cleaning kits (bought 1 & then a nicer 1 was a gift). One is a rifle/Shotgun cleaning kit and the other is a handgun cleaning kit. I would like to organize these parts. I would like to seperate the attachements by caliber size. I was wondering if there was a measuring chart where I can put the brush to and see the correct size or if there is another way.

admin answers:

Go to the store and tell the store person about your brushes and then compare them to the known sizes in the store.

Lisa asks…

can you clean a black powder rifle with a regular gun cleaning kit?

I wanted to use the cleaning kit I use on my Remmington 7mm? Is this possible? Will this hurt my black powder rifle?
I do have the 50. caliber attachments on my cleaning kit.

admin answers:

Well, a 7mm is .284" and most black powder rifles are at least .45 caliber, so the attachments will not work.

If you want to stick to tradition, black powder guns were primarily cleaned with hot water.

Added: That will work. Here is a link to a tool designed for cleaning the muzzleloader's rifling grooves:

Questions About Diploid

Linda asks…

what is the difference between a diploid and a diploid zygote?

I know a diploid has two sets of chromosome and a haploid has one set, but my book says once two haploids have been fertilized they make a diploid zygote. Is there a difference between a diploid and a diploid zygote?

admin answers:

A zygote is the initial cell after two gametes meet during sexual reproduction. Its a diploid zygote. A diploid can be any cell in the body with a full set of chromosomes.

Ruth asks…

Is the generative nucleus in the pollen of most flowering plants diploid or haploid ?

I know it divides into two, one fusing with the definitive nucleus of the ovule to form a diploid endosperm and the other fusing with the ovum in the ovule to form a diploid zygote.

So, before the generative nucleus divides into two , wouldn't it be diploid (i.e have a diploid number of chromosomes)?

Thanks.

admin answers:

Diploid microspore mother cells inside the anther undergo meiosis (microsporogenesis) forming haploid microspores (each mother cell dividing into four microspores).

The microspores develop into binucleate pollen grains, each containing a tube nucleus and a generative nucleus. Both are haploid . As they develop by meiosis .

When the pollen grain lands on a receptive stigma it grows into an elongate pollen tube containing a tube nucleus and a generative nucleus, the latter of which divides into two haploid sperm nuclei.

Sandy asks…

What process is responsible for restoring the diploid number of a species?

1. Meiosis is the process that reduces the number of chromosomes from diploid (2n) to haploid (n). What process is responsible for restoring the diploid number of a species?

admin answers:

Gamete fusion, or zygote formation.

Thomas asks…

What the difference between haploid and diploid?

People say diploid is one set of chromosomes and haploid is two but I still don't get it, I need a real simple explanation. Thanks

admin answers:

Um, no its the other way around. *HA*ploid is *HA*lf.
And DIploid is Double.
A human's haploid is 23 [HAlf of 46 total]
and a human's diploid number is 46 [double of the Haploid, or Half.]

those people dont know what they're talking about:)
hope you understand a little better now.

Y'all are missing out on a really funny show!

admin answers:

James asks…

What are the lyrics and who sings the song The Dream of the 90's is Alive in Portland from Portlandia show?

admin answers:

George asks…

What do you think about the show Portlandia?

admin answers:

Its garbage, they try too hard

Donna asks…

What is the name of this music production technique?

It sounds like a bunch of people singing in unison. I've heard it in at least 2 songs:
- opening credit song on Portlandia (the TV show)
- 10cc's I'm Not in Love

admin answers:

Don't know about Portlandia, but "I'm Not in Love" uses a variation on Phil Spector's 'wall of sound' technique from the 1960s. 10cc used vocal multitracking instead of orchestras.

From the current wiki article:
"The ethereal sound was created by laboriously building up multiple overdubs of the voices of Stewart, Graham Gouldman, Godley and Creme singing a single note in unison. This multi-track was then mixed down and dubbed down onto 16-track tape. This process was repeated across all sixteen tracks to create a lush 256-voice "virtual" choir that could "sing" chromatic chords.[1] A number of these prepared multi-tracks were then cut into several endless loops, each of which contained the basic notes of the main chords used in the song. The chorus loops could then be played by using the mixing desk rather like a keyboard -- each chord could be sounded by bringing up the fader for that loop....

"In this pre-sampler period, the group was able to simulate a large polyphonic choir, creating a dramatic tonal effect similar to that produced by the well-known choir setting on the Mellotron, but with a far richer sound, and in full stereo."
