Sharing experinces stay in Blue Ridge Log Cabins

Currently many poeple looking for Blue Ridge Log Cabins not only for vacation but also for long time stay.
Blue Ridge builds your home in a controlled factory environment and assembles the home on your foundation. It includes electrical, plumbing, fixtures, and appliances. If any of you caught the HGTV special featuring Mr. & Mrs. Indelicato. You can see theirs was a beautiful home. We plan on building the same home they live in. I can attest to it's structure as I have been to the Indelicatos home and toured their home and one of their rentals. It sold me on building a BRLC. It may not be the home I spend the rest of my life in but I know it will be a good investment and a great home for a few years before I sell it for resale. As far as modulars being poor in resale value, that is absolutely absurd. Contemporary modulars have excellent appreciation. if you find a good modular builder you can't tell the difference between a site built home and a modular. I have watched Blue Ridge Log Cabins built and re-sold for great profits, some almost twice what it cost to have the home built. I saw one of their smallest cabins, the Cullowhee, floorplan 950 sq ft, built for about $150K resell for $220K in Dillsboro, NC. Of course location is key and western north carolina is a hot vacation spot. But I have seen other blue ridge log cabins resell for almost double their building cost. They are true solid log homes and I can't say enough about them.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins specializes in system built log homes. Other than being the best in price and value, we deliver faster. A conventional log home would take 6 months to 1 year to build. We can have you in a log home in 3 ½ to 4 months! Also when you purchase a Blue Ridge Log Home it comes complete from kitchen appliances to light fixtures. Visit Blue Ridge Log Cabins for in-depth information.

I bought 10 1/2 acres up in SW Virginia and have the perfect homesite picked out on a high flat spot - already cleared. I plan to put a home on it when I retire here in SC. I have been considering a site-built log home or modular log home. I have visited Old Virgnina Log Homes which has their sales office and model homes about an hour from my land up there. I LOVE several of their models and the prices are very reasonable.

I stayed in a modular home up in Clemson. It was huge, 2 stories, 5 bedrooms, brand new. At first glance, it looked unbelievably nice, especially for college students. The girls that lived there called it the "Lego House". The walls were thin, the balconies wobbled. I think you could've gotten a running start and run right through the kitchen wall into the front yard. While we were there (2 days), the rails on two different balconies snapped off. The girls laughed it off, "Well, that figures!". Essentially, it felt exactly like a mobile home, it just looked like a really nice house.

Van Jones White house and Obama

Today hot news coming from white house is the resignation of the special adviser for green jobs, Van Jones.
Below is his statement about the resign :
I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today.
On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.
I have been inundated with calls - from across the political spectrum - urging me to “stay and fight.”
But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.

Jones was under fire for his past affiliation with the 9/11 conspiracy “truthers” and for calling Republicans “a**holes” in a video before he was appointed to the Obama administration. Republicans had also begun using him to escalate criticism of the administration’s deployment of czars across the policy landscape, saying that they were being used to avoid Senate scrutiny of appointees.

More problematic for the White House, perhaps, was the fact that Jones’ controversial statements fit snugly into the narrative woven by some conservative critics of Obama as a dangerous leftist, a critique that goes back to the campaign and was based as much on his past work as a community organizer and associations with the likes of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers as on his policies.

Jones' roots in radical politics, and a spate of newly surfaced links Saturday documenting his advocacy for convicted cop killer and former Black Panther Mumia Abu Jamal — a death row prisoner who many in the activist left view as an unjustly convicted political prisoner — threatened to play into that narrative, which reached new heights this week when the chairman of the Florida Republican Party challenged the President’s plan to speak to school children across the country as part of a plot to “indoctrinate” them in “socialism.”

In a resignation statement early Sunday morning, Jones said: "On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

What is so special about matinicus island ?

Matinicus island is very famous among the travellers,
What is so special about matinicus island ?
Matinicus Island, the largest in the eight-island archipelago, is shaped like an oval approximately 2 miles (3 km) long by 1 mile (1.6 km) wide, containing about 800 acres (325 hectares).
Its the richest lobstering grounds in the world !!
The shores are rocky—the eastern shore being mostly granite—but there are two large beaches with beautiful fine graying-white sand and numerous small pebble beaches. Matinicus has some cottage rentals and one bed & breakfast. The small village has a single post office.
The ocean's bountiful waters have also been a source of strife here for as long as anyone can remember.
On a July morning, it reached the boiling point when a longtime lobsterman and his daughter drew guns on two fellow islanders. The lobsterman fired, shooting a man he had known for decades in the neck, police reported.
The shooting has shone a spotlight on a long-standing territorial system all along the ragged Maine coast that gives fishermen unofficial rights to specified waters. The rights are legally unenforceable but important and usually accepted.
Nowhere are they more strictly enforced than around Matinicus Island, home to a fleet of three dozen lobster boats whose crews have a reputation for outlaw behavior.

the biggest event Decatur Book Festival 2009

One of the biggest event for the book lover is Decatur Book Festival.
The place where many famous thriller writers gather and show their latest books.
poeple have chance to chat with them and sharing ideas about everything.
Come and visit Decatur Book Festival.

This year’s Decatur Book Festival, held Sept. 4-6, features such marquee names as the ingenious thriller writer Lee Child, Southern memoirist Rick Bragg, singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter, popular young adult author Kate DiCamillo and author/publisher Sir Harold Evans, who’ll give the event’s keynote address (Fri., Sept. 4, 8 p.m.). While visitors may enjoy going out to see an acclaimed author, they’ll probably get more out of hearing a poet or spoken word artist. Poets’ command of lyricism nearly always delights the ear, even if their muse doesn’t necessarily fill their bank accounts.

Pleae also visit the Atlanta Art Institute’s gallery’s opening of book illustration by local children’s book illustrators (art on the walls and the books on tables to compare). Nice to see everyone getting into the spirit!
Most kids from Decatur schools had a chance to come on the Square today to listen to an author. Loren Long, Jarrett Krosoczka, Kate DiCamillo, Michael Wexler, John Hulme, and others were on hand either downtown or at the schools. It was a great opportunity for the kids to hear real live authors and ask questions.
