Cain manages crisis with humor

This is one of the most striking of viability tests for a presidential candidate: crisis management, the ability to pass the stage of an explosive charge and redirect the news. Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain, a newcomer to national politics, was struggling to pass Monday during a flurry of speeches and interviews in the shadow of allegations of sexual harassment.

"I never know why Jesus came to me so much love," Cain sang at the invitation of the moderator of the event to close the appearance of the National Press Club Monday. "He looked beyond all my faults and saw my needs."

It was a dramatic counterpoint to the rest of Cain's days in Washington, where he spent much denying that he had sexually harassed someone and call all these reports "a witch hunt." His consistency has begun to fall apart by night, though.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Cain asked if he was aware of the allegations of women in particular. "Some of them," he replied.

But when pressed, said he was not aware of any allegations.

Later, in a series of television interviews, Cain said he remembered some of the details after all.

Politico reported Sunday that the National Restaurant Association gave financial regulations to at least two female employees who worked for Cain and accused him of inappropriate behavior and sexually suggestive when he led the trade group.

The report upset Cain series of speeches and meetings with members of Congress to reassure decision makers rule the nation is ready for the public. But the revelations have raised questions about his ability to again - and if he can manage a crisis.

The former head of Godfather Pizza Chef faced with the situation rather than to cancel his schedule in Washington.

At the first event of the day, an appearance at the American Enterprise Institute, he announced that he would solve the problems later, "I will take all your arrows," Cain said.

He went on to complete negation of the great-great appearances and refused to discuss details, whether on Fox News or the National Press Club.

And even amid new questions about the viability of its offer from the White House, he tried to argue that he was as usual.

"What you can expect from my campaign is for me to stay on message for us to continue to do things and to execute our strategy to win the nomination," he said.

His campaign, meanwhile, attacked, Politico, whose story was based on anonymous sources and, in one case that said publication was a review of the literature that describes the allegations and the resolution.

And Cain, however, has tried to use humor.

"Because of the history of today's big news, I really know what it means to be No. 1."

He also painted himself a victim.

"This bull eye on my back has gotten bigger," Cain said. "We have no idea of the source of this witch hunt."

And finally, he relied on the charm - and the bigger picture.

"Faith is a big part of who Herman Cain. This is a big part of how I made that decision. It is a big part of this journey we're on, "Cain said. Invited to sing, he agreed." Since this is an opportunity for me to share some of my faith, I will. "

The world's population hit a huge $ 7 billion

The world's population hit a huge $ 7 billion, and the researchers suggest it could reach 10 billion in the next century. On the one hand, this means that we are a success - after all, the goal of any species is to develop and conquer. On the other hand, all that expansion means more mouths to feed, which requires more space and energy, which increases the demand on resources and the environment, perhaps too much demand for the Earth to support.

So little mysteries of life asks: How can we stop this growth? Should there be a world-child policy, like that applied in China?

One child per family

In 1979, in response to two decades of rapid population growth, the Chinese government announced a policy limiting each family to one child (although there are exceptions). The concern was that if growth continued at such a rate, it would be a crushing burden to society and the economy. [How many people can support the world?]

In terms of limiting population growth, the policy was a success, cutting the population of China by 250 million to 300 million people around, according to Chinese authorities. But this success has its price. Reports of abortion and forced sterilization abound. And, because of a preference for male children in China, selective abortions have skewed birth rates in the country male-female ratio from the natural biological from 105 to 100 to 121 to 100, resulting in millions of young men of women. Socially, the consequences range from mental health problems in the abduction and trafficking of women for marriage.

Social issues aside, is a world-child policy makes sense?

"I do not think it's a good idea, frankly," said John Bongaarts, vice president of the Population Council, an NGO non-profit global. "First of all, no one will accept it. There was an outcry on the one-child policy in China as coercive and is not a single person I know who support it. In addition, You do not really want the fertility decline to a child per woman, because you are in the same problems that Japan now, and nobody wants that. "

Aging population

The world's population could be growing, with a total fertility of 2.5 births per woman, but it is not increased at an even more worldwide. Fertility rates in Japan and throughout Europe, for example, are very low, only 1.4 and 1.6 births per woman, respectively. In other areas, the rates are high, particularly in Africa (4.7) and parts of Asia and Latin America. The United States is somewhere in the middle (2.1).

The problem of low fertility rates - those rates so low that they will not replace the current population - is that there are people much older than the young, which means that there a greater burden on young financially and socially support their elders. Japan is currently struggling with this, and China is about a decade away from facing a similar situation, Bongaarts said. If the fertility rate worldwide has fallen to only one birth per woman, it could destabilize society and the global economy. [Eat Old: Can Solve Mass Cannibalism future food shortages?]

And, once a model low fertility begins, it is difficult to reverse. "Demography is not like a tap, unfortunately. It's not like turning on and off the water, "said George Leeson, a demographer at the Oxford Institute of Ageing of the population. "Once you close the tap can be difficult to run again."

Education and birth control

Rather than one child policy, Bongaarts recommends a three-pronged approach to reduce fertility rates that are at unsustainable levels, and suggests that governments should adopt policies that support it. First, he says, is to contraceptives there and educate women about what they are and how they work.

Then comes education: building schools and the introduction of incentives to keep girls in school is key, such as women with higher levels of education tend to have fewer children ( although recent research suggests that having children can affect the level of education, and not vice versa). And finally, Bongaarts suggests a delay in childbearing, which he says may limit the options of a mother if she comes at too early an age.

There may be other solutions that are not yet clear to us, but that can only come from our technologies and increase the collective knowledge. "I think if you look at history, there are a lot of comfort to have," said Leeson. "Historically, demographically, there have been equally difficult situations, which humanity has faced and conquered and evolved. And I'm sure the matter will be the same here. "

October is cursed for the stock market

October is a bit cursed for the stock market - the 1929 crash, Black Monday in 1987, a slow-motion collapse in 2008. This time, the demons took a last breath, but Wall Street still managed to break the jinx.

Stocks had their best month for almost a decade, rising from their low point of the year in an almost uninterrupted four-week rally. The juice of most came from Europe, which seemed to finally find a strategy to tame the debt crisis.

But the finish was ugly. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 276 points and finished below 12,000 on the last day of the month. It was as an end it was a rough start: On the first trading day of the month, October 3rd, the Dow lost 258.

Bank stocks were hit hard Monday. MF Global, a securities firm led by former New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, filed for protection against bankruptcy. Rating agencies downgraded from the company last week, worried that she has too much debt in Europe.

Yet, even with the fear of Halloween, October 2011 will be remembered on Wall Street for a comeback that only the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball is almost eliminated, new champions, could not match.

For the month, the Dow was up over 1,000 points. He won 9.5 percent, its best performance since October 2002. The Standard & Poor 500, wider than the average of the major markets increased by 10.8 percent for the month, the best since December 1991.

On October 3, both the Dow and the S & P closed at their lows of the year. The market had been through a brutal summer and was one bad day away from falling into bear market territory, down 20 percent from its most recent peak.

Investors fear that the United States, with an economy growing at slowest pace since the end of the Great Recession, was about to fall into recession.

And if the United States did not switch to a new recession itself, the market was worried that Europe would give it a boost. Greece and other European nations face crippling debt, and European banks that lent money against large losses.

A recession in Europe would be bad news for the U.S. because Europe buys about 20 percent of U.S. exports.

Someone opening a quarterly statement to that time he had thrown away and was afraid to look again. But that day was to be the turning point.

Reports that European leaders have been working on a plan of debt began to escape. Investors gained confidence after the leaders of France and Germany has promised to come with a resolution of major by the end of the month.

Added to the news on Europe: strong corporate earnings from the likes of Google and McDonald and signs the U.S. economy was not as bad as feared. Retail sales rose 1.1 percent in September, the biggest gain in seven months.

When European leaders finally unveiled the matter Thursday, stocks roared higher. The S & P 500 jumped 3.7 percent and is up for the year for the first time since Aug. 3, just before the U.S. government debt lost its AAA credit rating.

"It's a rally all that was a very pessimistic vision of the world economy," says Todd Henry, a specialist emerging markets equity in T. Rowe Price. "Does it have legs? I think it remains to be seen. "

According to the agreement of the debt, banks will have a loss of 50 percent on their Greek government bonds. Europe will also add money to a bailout fund to protect others. And banks will increase their capital reserves to protect themselves.

With the books closing in October, the Dow was at 11,955.01, up about 83 percent in March 2009, its lowest point after the financial meltdown. It would have to increase by more than 2200 points from here to set a record.

The S & P 500 ended the month at 1,253.50, down 32 points Monday, up 2.5 percent. The Nasdaq composite index fell 53 points for the day, or 1.9 percent, and ended in October 2684.

Besides announcing the collapse Depression in 1929, the 1987 crash and the collapse in 2008, the stock market suffered a mini-crash on Friday 13 October 1989 and a decrease of 554 points the Dow Jones October 27, 1997.

But the month "turn the tide" in the 11 bear markets after World War II, according to the Stock Trader's Almanac. And it proved to be the best month for the single market from 1993 to 2007, according to the almanac.

Strong as it was, that October was not close to ranking as one of the best. After the 1929 crash, the market regularly ran much larger percentage gains. In July and August 1932, for example, the market gained more than 36 percent each month.

Concerns about a second recession fell slightly. The government announced last week that the economy in July, August and September grew at an annual rate of 2.5 percent, more than twice the speed of earlier this year.

The debt crisis in Europe is still far from fixed. A worrying sign is that borrowing costs for Italy and Spain have increased, a signal that traders are worried about the ability of these countries to pay their debts.

And there are problems closer to home. A Congress "supercommittee" must find $ 1.2 billion deficit in denominations less than a month, and Republicans and Democrats are fighting about whether to focus on higher taxes or cuts in federal spending .

FBI show Anna Chapman and other Russian spies

Last year, the FBI drove what he said was a Russian sleeper spy network - ten deep cover agents accused Russian intelligence, some of which went Ivy League grad schools to high-level connections, others who had stolen the identities of dead people to continue to hide their true identity. The dramatic revelations of the ten year long-espionage against the case, called "Operation spy stories" by the FBI, led to an exchange of Hollywood-like Cold War spies on the tarmac at Vienna airport , Austria, after the accused - including the photogenic city of New York Russian real estate agent Anna Chapman - pleaded guilty to acting as illegal agents of Russia last June 2010.

Monday, the FBI, responding to a request for access to information, has published dozens of surveillance videos, photos and documents of the case. But if the hand was forced from office, the FBI counterspies still seemed quite happy to discuss their success in rolling up the Russian spy network.

"The arrest of 10 Russian spies last year has provided a chilling reminder that espionage on U.S. soil did not disappear when the Cold War is over," the FBI said Monday on its website announcing the release . "Our case against the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) operatives, known as Operation St. Stories lasted more than a decade."

"Our agents and analysts looked deep cover agents as they settled in the United States (some using stolen identities) and was leading a seemingly normal life, marry, buy homes, raise children and assimilate into American society, "he said.

"After years of collecting information and ensuring that we knew all the players who were, we stopped the illegal June 27, 2010," the FBI reminded the readers. "A few weeks later, they pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to act as illegal agents of the Russian Federation in the U.S."

Here are links to all the video surveillance of the case published by the FBI, documents and photographs.

72 Days Of Marriage of Kim Kardashian And Kris Humphries

A happy marriage is simply not in the cards for socialite Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries NBA player because it seems that their time together is officially came to an end after a week or more rumors that the couple was on the rocks .

After a sumptuous (and lucrative) wedding on August 20, it seems that, after less than three months of marriage the couple divorced.

TMZ.com reports that Kim is planning to file for divorce this morning and the story was just confirmed on-line via the Twitter account of Ryan Seacrest.

"Yes @ kimkardashian to divorce this morning. I touched base with her, obtain a statement in a matter of minutes, "he Tweets.

We're told Kim mentioned the "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the break and that it will file for divorce instead of a regular cancellation, which is generally the case for the short marriages.

The couple had a marriage contract in place, and despite a marriage that cost nearly 10 million he earned the couple through marriage special broadcast on the E! Kim network. Word is that they collected nearly $ 20 million for it.

Last week's issue of Us Weekly magazine reported that the couple was "do not get along at all" and that while Kim is at work Kris is still at the party since the NBA is currently locked out.
In his first official statement since Kim Kardashian legally asked the court to dissolve their marriage, due to "irreconcilable differences," the former New Jersey Nets forward doesn't sound willing to accept his relationship's fate.

"I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents," Humphries said in a statement. "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."

Truth and Consequences on Bernie Madoff's book

Bernie Madoff's son, Andrew, and his wife, Ruth, tell their side of the story. Their book, "Truth and Consequences," hits store shelves today and whatever you think is the quick sale.

A rainy day can be the perfect time to dive into a book, but you may have trouble finding "Truth and Consequences," the new book by Laurie Sandell Madoff in Palm Beach. Classical library on South County Road Palm Beach has already sold.

"Well done," said Dan Foster, the purchaser Classic Books store. "It happened this week and we immediately sold."

The city of Madoff called home is eager to hear what the infamous family has to say about the Ponzi scheme that cost thousands of investors, including their own friends and neighbors, billions.

"It will make money because everyone is interested in this whole Madoff and how he got away for so long," said Philip Snow, of Boca Raton.

"I was in agony over the loss of all my friends," says Ruth Madoff Today Show Host Matt Lauer. "Everyone I know and love is a victim."

Ruth Madoff and his son, Andrew, told their stories on the NBC Today Show this morning. Ruth Madoff admitted that she and her husband tried to commit suicide. She and Andrew said they did not know any wrongdoing was going on.

"It never occurred to me that this was wrong," says Andrew Madoff Lauer.

It is not right with the people sitting in the Palm Beach County.

"They had to know what was going on," insisted the snow. "I have a family business and those involved in the company certainly know what's going on from a major to minor decision. Most family businesses are like that. "

Christine Lewis agrees to Palm Springs.

"I think it's very hard to live with someone and put your blinders on like this," she says, "and I think he probably said it more than she lets on it. "

As Library Classic awaits his next expedition of the book Madoff this week, residents of Palm Beach County have conflicting thoughts about his reading.

"I'll go buy it right after I finish this interview with you," said Snow.

Lewis said she does not want to spend the money.

Kim Kardashian marriage end after 11 months

They were hanging just 72 days - and it has only been three weeks since their "Fairytale Wedding" special aired on E!.

Only just in August bash They have launched a £ 7 million, with three wedding dresses for Kim and a cake of 10 floors - one for each week of the wedding.

But 1,728 hours is a lifetime in the LA and the few officially split yesterday, citing "irreconcilable differences".

Kim said last night: "I hope everyone understands that this was not an easy decision. I had hoped that marriage was forever, but sometimes things do not work as expected. We are friends and want each other better. "

Kris, 26, is currently unemployed due to NBA lockout, which prevents them from playing basketball.

And a source revealed: "Their careers led to tensions. Kim was juggling TV series, perfumes and clothing lines, while Kris was sitting at home twiddling their thumbs.

"Kris and Kim thought he had hung Their can solve the problems but they just lost."

Sources said another factor was the desire for Kris to live in Minnesota, while Kim wants to stay in Los Angeles where the money is his family life.

A clip of her new TV series Kim sees her husband wonders how she can maintain her career in Minnesota.

He says, "When you have children and they are in school, probably will not care about you to anyone."

How did they stay together so long?

Display less-than-perfect timing, Kris said last night that he was willing to do something to make the marriage a success.

He added: "I am committed to this covenant of marriage and all it represents. I love my wife and I am devastated to learn that she has filed for divorce ...

"I'll do whatever it takes to make it work."

The couple has £ 11 million by marriage, and with a Pre-Nup, Kris (worth £ 5 million) will not get their hands on £ 22 million estimated by Kim.

Kris spokesman also confirmed yesterday that he was the victim of an alleged fraud, after investing thousands of dollars with one of his guests at a wedding who was arrested Friday.

Their wedding Kim said last week: "It's always difficult when you're out." Sounds like it was just as bad Pls They were the resource persons together.

Kim Kardashian notice of divorce: Kris Humphries marriage was a big fat waste of time and money.

Trick or Treat Times and Safety Tips to remember

some helpful Trick or Treat Times and Safety Tips to remember while venturing out tonight:

A parent, guardian or older brother or sister should accompany children and only go to houses of people they know. If someone older cannot go, trick or treat with a group of children.
Do not enter the house to obtain a treat.
Parents should choose the correct clothing or costume. Light colors are more easily seen at night. Make up or masks should provide good visibility for the trick or treater.
Use reflective tape on your costume and carry a flashlight so you can see and be seen easily.
Plan your trick or treat route ahead of time. Pick streets that are well lighted. Children should look carefully before crossing the street and cross only at corners. Never cross the street between parked cars or in the middle of the block.
Watch for traffic.
Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.
Parents should carefully inspect treats for signs of tampering or metal objects.
Suspicious persons should be reported to the Police Department.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Photos

Refrain from crossing the street in the middle of the block or between parked cars. Cross the street only in the crosswalk or at the corner, using caution.

Trick-or-treat while it’s light outside. If you must be out after dark, wear white or light-colored clothing, put reflective tape on your costume and treat bag, and carry a flashlight so you can be seen. Never carry a lit torch or candle.

Dress children in non-flammable costumes that fit properly – short enough to prevent tripping. Avoid wearing masks, which obstruct vision. Use face paint and makeup instead.

Trick-or-treat with friends and stay in a group; there is safety in numbers. Never trick-or-treat alone.

Make sure young children are accompanied by an adult or a responsible teen, such as an older brother or sister while trick-or-treating.

Advise children not to enter any residence or vehicle for the promise of anything. Children should wait outside the door for their treats.

Plan your trick-or-treat route ahead of time, staying in your immediate neighborhood along well-lit streets. Do not wander far from home.

Instruct children never to eat any treats until they return home and the treats have been examined under sufficient light by an adult. Check the wrappers of commercial candy for signs of tampering. Wash and cut fruit before eating. Throw away anything unwrapped. Notify the police if there are any suspicious treats.

Always walk on the sidewalk while trick-or-treating. If there’s no sidewalk on the street, keep to the left, next to the curb, and walk single file facing (against) traffic.

Children should be courteous and respectful of other people's property. Damaging or defacing property will not be tolerated.

Parents should know whom their children are with and which route they are taking through the area.

Homeowners should leave outside porch lights on.
